Walmart is using AI-powered cameras to prevent theft at checkout lanes.
Walmart announced that it uses computer vision to prevent theft at 1000 stores.

This program, called Missed Scan Detection by Walmart, uses technology supplied by Irish company Everseen.

Everseen CEO Alan O'Herlihy said the technology was designed to "digitize" checkout surveillance.

Cameras under the supervision of cashiers notify the cashier to intervene in payment problems.

Retailers lost $ 47 billion in the United States in 2017 due to such thefts.

Walmart wants to eliminate $ 4 billion in losses every year with this technology.

Walmart spokeswomen LeMia Jenkins made statements in an interview with the Business insider

"Walmart is making a true investment to ensure the safety of our customers and associates," Walmart spokeswoman LeMia Jenkins said. "Over the last three years, the company has invested over half a billion dollars in an effort to prevent, reduce and deter crime in our stores and parking lots. We are continuously investing in people, programs and technology to keep our stores and communities safe."
